BUILD / STRUCTURED MODELING

From 2D plans to structured BIM.

Turn plans into structured Revit models with real elements, relationships and parameters, not flattened visual geometry. Superarc’s workflow starts with the plan and the rules of the target project.

THE PRODUCTION CONTEXT

What is 2D to BIM?

2D to BIM is the process of interpreting a plan and creating structured building elements in a BIM model. A useful Revit result has the right element types, levels, relationships and information for the next production task.

01

Establish the source and target

Start with a representative plan and confirm its scale, units and level relationship. Supply the target Revit project context and approved families or types. Source clarity matters: ambiguous linework or missing information needs review before it becomes a model assumption.

02

Map drawing intent to real elements

The production goal is walls, doors and rooms that behave as structured project elements. The plan needs to resolve element types, hosting and relationships rather than simply reproduce visible shapes. Review those choices before approving the model operation.

03

Review the model against the plan

Compare alignment, openings, room boundaries and level assignments. Check how the created elements relate to existing project content. Leave ambiguous geometry or missing information as review items. The resulting model needs the same project checks as manually produced BIM.

04

Confirm the supported input in a demo

Bring a sample plan and an example of the expected Revit result. Confirm input format, drawing condition, required families and the exact elements supported for that workflow. Superarc’s website demonstrates the production sequence; it does not upload or convert your project files.
